The turned part of this piece is hard maple and FULL of figure. There is a splash of ambrosia that looks like a bird of prey in flight.

The base was recovered from a disastrous shipping event. It started as a stunning Victorian card tray. The top was damaged beyond repair in shipping, so I parted it off and used it to support this dazzling piece of wood. One of my favorite features of the base is the parrot on the movable swing.

The wood is finished with kukui nut oil and micro-crystalline "Renaissance" wax.
