This piece is turned from the first piece of "found" wood I ever collected. It was a small piece of firewood, found at the beach at Chun's Reef on the North Shore of Oahu. It was still smoldering when I saw it so I drenched it at the shore and brought it back to Chatham NY where I lived at the time. It sat waiting for me to get the confidence and skill to turn it. I had no idea if the burn was too bad to stand up to the force of the lathe and tools... It did.

It's small and cracked, but it's a memory on memory piece and a prize in our private collection.
