Bay Laurel Crotch Wood Hollowform 4 1/2 in. x 4 1/2 in. x 7 1/4 in.
At only 3/16 to 1/4 inch thin, this piece had a lot of chance to find it's true shape, and t has. I turned
this one when the wood was fresh off the log and soaking wet. The outside was formed and finished before I started to hollow
it. I did that so that the finish would look and be original no matter how the surface changed. Near the base, the compression
curl was so strong that as the piece dried, that area moved a great deal without cracking. The neck/collar is now slightly
out of round and eccentric. It is a joy to feel how Nature contributed to the final design of this one. $225
